Chelmsford City FC
Chelmsford City FC were formed in 1878 and now play in the Blue Square Bet South Division.
In recent years the club have begun placing an even higher value on youth and community work and have now formed a partnership with Chelmsford College starting a new football and coaching scheme. This season the club and college have recruited thirty boys as full-time apprentice football players.
The 'SOCA' programme (soccer opportunities and coaching academy) is designed to simply stop talented young footballers from falling through the net, to give them a chance to progress with their football and to educate them with top quality coaching skills to back up their playing careers.
The club believes the scheme will be a huge success over the coming years and hopefully lead to many of the players representing the club at senior level.
The Apprentices have two teams that play in the Football Conference Youth Alliance and the English Colleges League under the guidance of Kirk Game, Stuart Slater and Glen Johnson, and all home league games kick off at 2pm on Wednesdays at Melbourne Park.
